Workshop aims and outline

Interactive and collaborative learning through blog creation and use of online docs and drives, exploiting online learning communities

Step 1:
  • Reminder: Moodle page (Workshops Jan/Jun 2016)
  • Share with us your gmail account on the Google Sheets document (DOC 1- Workshop 7) 

Step 2: Activities

A. Why use or create blogs for teaching (Introductory video, Readings and Example page)

B. Create and customize your own blog

  1. Create a personal blog using Blogger
  2. Give a title to your blog which corresponds to your taught theme/discipline/subject
  3. Share your blog's URL on the Google Sheet (DOC 1- Workshop 7)
  4. Post an introductory note under the title of your blog
  5. Create your first post which would be the theme you would like to discuss with your students
  6. Create a list of pages which would serve your teaching goals or further readings/activities in subsequent lessons.
  7. Insert all necessary gadgets into your blog (eg. pages, statistics etc)
  8. Customize your template according to personal taste/subject/theme
  9. Change the blog settings and invite participants (use the email list) to contribute comments regarding your post.
  10. Respond to the comments of others

C. Extending the use of your blog- enhance collaborative learning through online learning communities

  1. Use the Collaborative Document (DOC 2) to share your ideas about how you could use a blog within your own teaching practice.
  2. Create a new document in Word and upload it on your Google Drive (or create a folder and upload the document inside it). Share the link (VIEW ONLY) of the document with us (DOC 1- Workshop 7) 
  3. Now share a link which can give us access to EDIT the document 
  4. Create your own Google Doc/Slides/Sheet and share the link with us
  5. Join the Google Group created for this workshop. Respond to the topic about ICT integration by posting a short comment
  6. Create your own Google group and invite other people to join, including the tutors of the workshop (mariaraouna@gmail.com  and mavrou.k@gmail.com). Otherwise, share the link on DOC1- Workshop 7.

D. Assessment

  1. Fill-in the online survey regarding the workshop which was created on Google forms...(you have received a corresponding email or just use this link: https://goo.gl/forms/nBqTPXw5iUgtfeXL2)
  2. Now let's try Google Forms! E-mail a new survey to us or give us the link.

E. Further activities

  1. Use of any other Google suite applications.
  2. Link of applications with Moodle
  3. Use of OneDrive via the use of Microsoft accounts. Let's exploit the online Microsoft suite!!!
  4. Use of SWAY! Let's be creative!!! Get inspired and create your own! Give us the link!
